What most fail to see is that crop subsidies are directly tied to the demise of the American beef cow herd. MCOOL would at least give consumers the ability to support American producers.
They quickly point out the “cheap grain” that livestock guys get to use which is a total farce since most guys put up their own feed and in cases of marginal ground that was pasture could have just been grazing it instead of raising row crops that lose money until crop insurance and RFS is involved.
These subsidies started out with good intentions, but now they’ve completely distorted the markets, including bleed over to livestock.
