| I always wondered if summer pastures could be over stocked by like 20% and avoid overgrazing by feeding some DDGS, soyhulls and/or other byproducts. Do the same when grazing crop residue in the winter. I know that would add additional cost and labor, but the labor could come from next generation trying to get in the business. Another plus to this is it would bring in additional fertility to pasture and crop land. When all these byproducts are railed out the nutrients leave with it.
I personally feel feed lotting cows would never work.
