NW Washington | Here is a 14-year-old NAT thread on Versatile axle tube failures and fixes. However, it is so old that much of the information is no longer accurate.
The 555 was not a very popular Versatile, which may also be a factor. At one time, there were a couple of places making steel replacement axle tubes for Versatiles.
GC parts in Alberta might be a good place to check. Good luck.
