Our VFD is on call 24 hours a day , it's all they talk about it's their life now. My 63 year old cousin is one and that's all he will talk about. I am thankful some are willing to do it but some hang around the fire hall just waiting for a fire or wreck. They want to race to be the first one there. Wilson

Our VFD goes through trucks and pickups like nothing.

"We red line them out the door" they said. They weren't kidding, they're spinning their wheels, foot to the floor from where they park to the street then...slow down to 25 for a busy intersection then stop in another 100 feet for the turn on the main road.

I asked if they were always plugged in or had some type of prelube system or something. Nope. So cold drive trains go from 0 to 6,000 rpm in 1 second, full load.

My cheif wont put up with that crap . We dont run stop signs . If we have a wreck we can help no one .

I actually just got back from a fire that had more response than i have ever seen . Its the first time i actually have responded in a town . The fire was getting away from the VFD in town and threatning other houses . The cheif called for help and they dispatched every department and the guys from the city 40+ miles away . we are an easy 20 miles away , couple other VFD a little closer . We got it whipped down and dispatch turned around the guys from the city . 15 or more of us there . At one time 6 of us on a line each . Those old houses burn like gasoline .
