Everyone is a price taker to some degree. If you produce hand tools, you still have to meet the market if you want to sell any. You do have the advantage of using the futures market to take transfer some risk when the price reaches a level you like. My friend makes bbq sauce. He buys his supplies as needed. He then fills orders as they come in. He can not forward contract 3 years as the futures market allows producers to do.
