Eastern NE KS | About 10 years ago we lost our first to Anaplaz. Started feeding CTC in the mineral. Lost one more but with added focus on consistent access to medicated mineral and we are doing better.
Back in the day, we had a small group of fall calvers. We blood tested them to learn how many infected carriers were in the group, 8/11. Interestingly, KSU conducted a state wide survey at about the same time. Based on their results, they estimated 75% of the state's cow herd was infected.
I'm on the lookout for a vaccine and there is one being used/tested (LSU vet/researcher) but so far my vet is not ready to recommend it.
