Investing a very large amount of money to convert marginal crop ground into pasture and building a cow herd at record cattle prices doesn't sound very profitable unless a guy can lock in record prices for 10+ years. Half a mile down the road from me is a silo that was built in the '70s because cattle were so profitable, it was filled one time before the cattle all got sold.
