When my oldest was in the 4th or 5th grade, the teacher was working on "Mental Math"...teaching to THINK about the answer before starting with a pencil. I started a lot of conversations at the supper table with "Using Mental Math...". I got of lot of looks that indicated he wasn't overjoyed, but that didn't intimidate me, pushed on, exercise that brain. |
