| A couple things make it hard to hire a truck.
The bid was a quick ship. So to start I only have 3 days to deliver.
I normally have a neighbor haul over half my crop. I try and haul the first load out of a bin to make sure everything works and then when it quits running he is suppose to quit and I can finish with my truck, at my own pace.
My neighbor was booked up for over a month.
So now I am calling folks that I am not a regular customer, and they know I have a truck, so they think there will be no business the rest of the year
Throw in the fact that these guys are working, so I call them leave a message. They call back when they get to a good spot or it is evening. So about 2 different guys a day is all one can touch base with.
The throw in a 1/4 mile lane and rain in the forecast , it really dampens the enthusiasm. | |
