| I use a 10 ft octagon King post and a 6 ft octagon Queen post with a diagonal brace. Our land has so many rocks under the surface that it is nearly impossible to drill a hole with an auger to the depth it should be, usually hit rocks within about 2 or 3 feet. For me a post pounder was an amazing solution that made things actually work. I have an S650 Bobcat that I use it on. I am an one man operation so having a grapple on the post driver has really made work much easier for me. I know for a fact that I am driving posts through rock and it just works. I hung a chain on the pounder cup that helps me plumb the posts. I have to drill half inch holes in the posts to install the brace. The diagonal brace is pre-drilled. I use woodworking clamps to push the drill against the pipe using a step drill, and it is fairly painless way to drill holes. The post driver has never failed to put a post in at the depth I want. Both the King and Queen posts get to 5 and a half feet deep and they seem really solid. I just switched to this last year, but the fence we built last year is still holding tight. I would have used an auger but on our land it really is difficult, and the post driver solved that problem.
