Alpena MI | I can agree on staying warmer in the fall because of the lakes. The trade off is cooler springs and slightly cooler summers than 20 miles inland (we farm within 2 miles of Lake Huron). Every area has it's challenges and benefits, and I don't mind the challenges I'm familiar with. I see some complaining about where they farm and I just smile, life can be built in a new area too if it's so bad where you are currently farming.
London ON is some of the best farm ground and climate in Canada, as far as I know. I haven't been to western Canada so I can't make that statement definitively. They would have lake effect rain and snow there, which can be good and can be detrimental.
