Subject: RE: Hog Manure

Lake Park Iowa
Applied hog manure for close to 30 years. Value has went down as feed has changed. Ends of field take it hard from repeat load after load. And in a wet fall ready bad. If it was me dragline only and it needs to be a Coulter bar. or no. The fellows we had with tanks were the best, and they have no other way other than driving on the ends, so no blame on them at all. They did a very good job always. But they are at the mercy of the weather. With that said after five years of no manure tanks on our ends finally they yield up with the rest of the field. Soil type, soil condition, tillage method all enter into it. Make work whatever you decide. But as others have said, test for value first, it can be very good or poor. How well is it is agitated so the application is consistent. Make sure they have flow controls and GPS so they know when they are empty and when they need to start or it will really show up.
