I farm because I love it. In my neck of the woods it's very difficult to come across land or find land that can be afforded by a guy that doesn't have a family where land is going to be coming my way in the future. I don't move to a place where land is more affordable because I have a wife and kids and would tend to like to keep them and they do not want to relocate. Therefore most of my farming work is in custom farming: silage, manure, baling etc. I do have a couple few acres of my own that I get the privilege to farm. Been looking for a combine for several years. Dealership I am referencing has helped me immensely with service for my other equipment that they have under their umbrella and I like them. Have talked with this dealership several times about getting the color combine they service and they have been very helpful and highly recommended if I get one of those color combines I put a draper head on it and that they would be able to do it pretty easily. This used combine came up at a dealership of a different color and thus they would not know the first thing about servicing it. It's a $40,000 combine. Dealership I'm referencing had a draper head that fit the budget and so I bought the draper head from them and sent the combine to them that was not draper ready to get draper ready. Let them know that it was coming and they said okay. That was the extent of the conversation.
My zodiac sign is Taurus
Google says technically my birthday has a me as a Gen x'er.
My favorite meal is cheeseburger and french fries.
What other pertinent information would you like to know?
Again I am not on here to bash anyone I'm just asking how other people handle this situation. I guess I should have made it multiple choice.
A) do you storm the shop and hold technician's hostage until your combine is serviced?
B) do you sit by quietly and hope your machine is ready by harvest 2026?
C) do you send a truckload of 'beverage of choice' at the end of a hot day to the dealership to hopefully get a bribe and get your combine in line next?
D) Go ask input from ag talk and get other people's input and...yikes
