SW Minnesota | 85% of NPK value I pay the cost of manure application and the buyer pays the cost of one commercial I save them. I haven't sold any for a will because I farm enough to use all the manure I have now. The manure I have plus some starter and nitrogen seems to be enough nutrients to maintain pretty good fertility. I have friend that is about 60 miles away that got the same deal but he got enough land that he doesn't need to sell it either. As others have said the manure and the land both have to be tested for the manure management plan any way so there really isn't much guess. I don't think Kooikers advice would apply in my soils. Spring application is very likely to be a disaster. I have seen it work but I have seen it be a compacting mess. | |
