new to us a 8700 jd chopper,40 knife drum is different then the 48 knife drum,on a 48 I could get the leves and stalk to cut finer,the 40 knife I have to keep it full,pushing a 8row-30 cornhead,in 280 bu corn it seemed like 7mph was best sample,happy at 5mph,the extra speed is a killer in the hills
