Cen Ks | That looks interesting. Several years ago I almost put Hutchisons in a side by side. I am not in the south but I tried some old genetics a few years ago, Back in the early 90s we grew Resniks. They were developed by Ohio Crop Improvement. For several years they were top performers in local K-State plots. At the time we were still full tillage and relatively unfamiliar with growing beans. I wondered how the same genetic would work today.
Several years ago I found a foundation seed grower for Ohio Crop Improvement that was still selling Resnik seed. After 30 some years we again were growing Resnik beans.
They perform well but are just a bit short season for our climate. Same beans but farming practices have changed a lot. They are old genetics, they ripen off to a beautiful tawny brown color.
It gave me a sense of satisfaction to grow a 30+ old , non-gmo with todays farming methods; no-till & covercrops. Back in the day Resniks were the first beans to break the 50bu mark on our farm.
