Subject: RE: Hail in eastern Nebraska

East Central Nebraska
I'm about 30 minutes southwest of Fremont. It built just west of me and hammered everything east and the storm stalled out. I was thinking over towards Malmo/Colon (between Wahoo/Fremont) was bad according to the warnings. It was stuck in that area for a good hour. But I don't know if that was the worst hail. I was reading 4-5 beans per square foot is a bushel. So with that, I'm figuring 5-10 bushel lost in my area. I thought for sure it would be 100%. It hailed for a good 1/2 hour, but mostly pea size with a few ping pong balls. I'm probably a week out from combining beans. Had my good truck outside and that has some dings in the hood. Went for a drive after the storm in the dark and the ditch was full of water and a ton of beans floating down the ditch. Sucks. Took our once in a lifetime beam crop to probably APH. Then at 3 in the morning, another storm came thru with a big wind. I think most of the corn is ok, but sure took the tops off. A few spots it is down.
