North Central Illinois | I've been supplementing with layer litter instead of dairy manure but have similar positive results. Seeding the clover in the spring is key though. Growth from summer planting is just too little.
If going with summer seeding I use peas and/or sunn hemp.
I do also gain the benefit of some high quality summer and fall grazing. This field I'm planning to take one hay cut off next spring and then harvest clover seed before going to corn in 2027. Time will tell whether that's better than just one season of clover growth.
