SeMN | I’m pretty sure the boom width on a helicopter is less than the pattern it sprays, a 20’ boom can do a 40’ swath or more . Wind, height and speed all can change the swath width . We went to a high crop ground rig this year. The only stripes we have , are from intermediate driven on spots. It’s not as convenient, and takes more time than hiring an aerial applicator, but , with 120’ boom, 1400 gal tank, and auto-swath , we saved the application cost and used 20gal of water per acre to get good coverage. The results are yet to be seen with yield , all of our corn is still pretty green , and looks to be 10 days to black layer, ( even the 4/25 planted 105 day ) .
I added a photo from this morning, our 105 day planted 4/25 . Note the corn in the neighboring field , planted a week later .
