Well, now, I think that's pushing it. :-)

Rings / halos / sundogs are all caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere -- the sign of an over-riding cold front, which can be expected to trigger precipitation. in other words, there is a mechanism that related the "sign" to a result.

Always look for the mechanism. Anything else is just magical thinking.
