Hope you noticed in most of the answers that communication IS important. I would encourage everyone to write down their individual concerns and share them. Don't make people guess your concerns. And start out with a buy-sell agreement in place. Always good to be pro active. I remember once signing a lease on a newly rented farm, and the owner next put a lease cancellation agreement in front of me to also sign. Kinda surprised me, but as I thought about it more, that’s a terrific idea, saves having unpleasant conversation down the road. So yes, things in writing, ahead of time matter greatly when deals fall apart. |
