East of Broken Bow
Can't speak for cars as I don't know much about them, but a friend of mine is a Polaris mechanic and he said that 90% of the cam problems with Polaris ATV/UTV engines is due to using the wrong oil in them. They are meant to have 0W40 in cold weather and 5W50 in most normal driving conditions. When one comes in with cam issues he tries to ask what oil they used and he said the vast majority of the time the answer was the owner thought 0W oil was way too thin so they put 10W40 or 15W40 in it, which for some reason takes out the cam. I'm guessing the high cold flow number starves the cam at startup.
