Subject: RE: Hearing problems starting

Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS

Don't know your situation, but if my wife's phone was not routed through her hearing aids she wouldn't be able to use the phone very well. She also has an attachment for the television that allows the sound from the tv be beamed directly to her hearing aids. It's all bluetooth of course, but it keeps phone and tv from being so loud I can't stand it.

As I said in an earlier post, my mother (age 96) doesn't understand how to work her phone well enough to take advantage of all the features available on her HAs so she had the audiologist to disable it, so it can be done.

I also understand about the background noise. If my wife is in a noisy restaurant or in a crowd where several people are talking at once she has trouble. Her HAs do have a feature that she can control with her phone where she can set them to listen to what is directly in front of her and that helps a lot, but it's not perfect.

I apologize if I'm wrong, but I think you need an audiologist who is professional enough to teach you how to use your hearing aids and set them properly. Tell the audiologist all the different noise environments you are in so that they can program settings for each situation. Hearing aids will not and cannot replace natural hearing, but they are a lot better than being deaf.
