There’s definitely some parallels and some differences also.

As mentioned Roseanne tweeted a mean tweet that obviously wasn’t meant to be believed at face value that would only have been seen by her followers on the platform if it weren’t for the media coverage. Roseanne apologized quickly for her actions but still got canceled. At the time of cancellation her show was the #1 sitcom I believe.

Kimmel said some mean things that was plausible and definitely could have been believed to be the truth but wasn’t true while there was an ongoing legal investigation about the incident. It would have only been seen by those that watch his show if it weren’t for the media coverage. He never did apologize to the best of my knowledge. His show had a pretty low level viewership at the time of cancellation.

I don’t know if or how many other times Roseanne had targeted Obama in her comments. Kimmel had done over 90 minutes targeting Trump before he was cancelled.

I’m sure some can add other similarities/differences.
