You may want to re-check your rumor. Per Google there are 226 ABC affiliates in the US, and I believe the cancelled number was around 100, so pushing 50%.
I thought he was a mean, nasty person for years. We watch so little TV anymore. Even less than I watched as a kid, when all we had were 3 stations and a B/W fuzzy screen.
