How I would decide would depend on the stage of life, I'm now 67, and the prognosis of the standard treatment. If I get to be sick from chemo for 2 years to live an extra 2 months that's a no go. I'll take my chances with the new possible treatments. If there is a 90% chance of remission with current treatment then lets go.
Either way there would be a second or even third opinion.
