East of Broken Bow
One difference I see with Kimmel is that unlike most of the others mentioned, he crossed the line while his show was on the air, and pretty much everyone else mentioned was cut off for something that was not aired, or even had anything to do with the show.
Had Kimmel said what he said on his personal social media account, I would agree with you.
However, he said what he said while on the air, and the FCC actually has written guidelines that state you cannot broadcast false informatio regarding a crime that has been committed, which is what Kimmel did. I am not going to argue againt the idea that the Trump administration was looking for a reason to go after Kimmel, but it was him and only him that committed the violation that gave the FCC reason to threaten action.
I don't know if you are aware of it, but several times now, 'The View' has had to make instant on-air corrections to statements that have been made on the air on that show. I don't watch the View, but have seen clips where one of the women there were forced to read a statemnt to the effect of what we said a couple minutes ago was not true, the facts of the matter are......bla bla bla.....why do you think they would do that, if there are no repurcussions for someone broadcasting false information?
