Almost everyone I meet that has had prostate surgery has a poorer quality of life. They might say their doctor saved their life, but the data doesn't necessarily support that.
This is not a slam dunk, do what your doctor told you to do. Get more opinions and study your options. Btw, doctors are people just like you and me and are not always right. They do their best, but this is tougher than rocket science.
