| The article mentions the cold winter of 1934 and how the Baldwin apple trees died but the Mcintosh did not. My grandmother's brother had a portable sawmill that he use for custom sawing. He set up in Middleport NY and the local farmers were bringing in the apple tree trunks to try and salvage some value from the dead Baldwins. The saw kicked back and jumped the track cutting him though the groin. He made it to the hospital but couldn't be saved. | |
