southern MN | It’s always good to hear from ‘the other side’ and be watchful that fairness is built into and kept in the system.
Kimmel has been benched before. So he does have a bit of a track record here.
FCC reached out, but did not start any kind of action. Were they trying to help abc head off an issue, or were they darkly threatening the Kimmel show? That’s pretty cloudy water to call a hard outcome there. They did not start any action.
If Kimmel was in the right, he is a wealthy man, and is backed by one of the wealthiest entertainment conglomerates in the world. Which also seems to be very much against this administration. If he is in the right, then both he and abc have the resources to contend the issue, and both would have the desire I should think.
Since abc parked Kimmel at least for a while, yet again, it would appear there is some substance to the claims.
Simply looking at what he said and has said (and other past comments), Kimmel was not saying the truth. His speech was not in the context of a joke, it was commentary.
The lines between news and comedy were blurred some time ago when John Stewart and those that worked on his show started appearing before Congress on matters relating to news coverage. We are left to consider such not by the show, but on how the material is delivered.
I did not see an explanation or apology or a deflection from Kimmel on it - which would go a long way in my mind.
And so……
It seems Kimmel was in the wrong here and is causing his employer more trouble than he is worth?
I disagree with your position on this case, but I appreciate watching for the natural creep of pushing a govt agenda too far. Perhaps it would have helped if the same watchdog mentality had been applied a few decades ago? But that’s old news I’m sure. Your pushback could be delivered a little better than just repeating the same line 5 times, and it would help if you had some context as to why. None the less, there is value in questioning things. I have been questioning things for a couple decades now.
