Minnesota | The 2577 with those hours should not be a huge investment.....you are familiar the machine, which certainly is worth knowing it's history. You can run that for a while and then upgrade to something else if you add more acres in 5 years.
We went from a 2388 to a 7130 (which is the Tier4/new cab version of a 7088). There is a lot of improvement between the 2588 and a the7088/7130 -- more power, lots of heavier components, better weight balance, etc. We got a long great with the 7130 and 30ft head/8 row corn. 7120/7230, etc. is the "Flagship" design and a different animal than the 88s. If you stay with the "midrange", then I would look for a 7130 with the new style cab rather than a 7088.
I spent a lot of time last summer looking at draper heads. 30 foot drapers are very rare (at least in MN/IA) and were usually priced higher than comparable 35 or 40 ft heads. You are going to need new heads if you go to a machine any newer than a 2588. | |
