I was wondering about drone direction today. It seems to me if you go crossways to the rows one side of the corn plant will get more than the other. I think wind direction probably makes a big difference also. It will all drift the same way but I think the drone should go with or against the wind and maybe you should forget which way the rows run. I watched a DJI drone with rotary nozzles spraying and the spray moved crossways to the drone direction at least 100' in a moderate wind. We hired a EAVision J150 (I don't know what kind of nozzle they have) and I thought it did a lot better in similar wind conditions. Here in WI this year if it wasn't raining it was blowing.
Flying into or with the wind effects spray pattern worse then a cross wind. A cross wind doesn’t effect pattern too much, it just moves the swath to the side.
This is the same with a fertilizer spreader, you always want to spread with a cross wind. |
