Western Oregon | We have 4 pear trees, 4 varieties. Only 1 is ripe, 1 has been picked and are ripening, 1 nearly time to pick and 1 that isn't ready to pick until late October. Bartlett is first, right around Labor day, they ripen on the tree here. I usually pick when the first few start to fall. We used a lot of pear juice to can other fruit, eat the fruit and drink the juice. We dehydrate a lot of pears and make fruit leather....James | |
