Performance wise I don't think there is an advantage of one over the other unless you are doing extremely slow work under one mph. Trimble has their own hall effect kit for those low speed applications. It is a ready make solution but is quite a bit more expensive than the Honeywell sensors I have used. AS far as that goes any hall effect angle sensor with a zero to 5v signal should work I believe. The tap value for the angle sensor is GSS. I found this chart in an old thread but I'm not for sure if it is right. I believe I used 1 for the value and not 0. I figured Potentiometer would be the correct choice since the signals should be similar. Maybe a value of one is for hall effect sensors. 2 is the choice for autosense but it is listed twice in the chart. I would have to double check but I believe GSS 1 is the setting I used.

gss:
0 with Potentiometer
1 with Auto Sense
2 with Auto Sense
3 with Sam200 steermotor
