Not uncommon to have drips and or spills around the drone, do you want that always falling down onto what’s below? Depends what you have below I guess. Also if you have to make some small repairs, what if you drop parts or tools? Lastly depending on what type of generator you are running I would think plywood would knock down some noise compared to expanded metal.
Edit to add: I doubt it has anything to do with landing or taking off with the drone.


I have seen some videos and they mention part of the material choice is for landing. A softer material causes the drone to bounce less as it lands
