I agree that P was not my limiting factor. Nitrogen and Moisture were my most limiting factors as early conditions were saturated for over a month after emergence and then we were in the beginning stages of a drought when I pulled the samples.
My main issue with the product is the pricing of it as it only addresses one issue and most farmers will spend big dollars on a product without knowing what their most limiting factor was.
Like I said in my original post, the take home message is to test everything. Otherwise you’ll never find your most limiting factor and will continually waste money.
Could be. Without knowing your yield goals its a swag but your N is definitely low and now you know its good enough for a 150 bushel. I would be looking real hard at S, ZN, B, and CU levels as well if it were mine. Maybe you can find something a micromix that's economical to help infurrow or in a 2x2x2.
Take care
The fertility was there. After planting we had 15” rain over the next few weeks. Then before tassel the rain completely shut off and we went the next 65 days with only a half inch. When I pulled tissue test the corn was already showing moisture stress. It’s going to be impossible to get good looking tissue tests under those conditions. |
