Northern Indiana | Sometimes this is a sign that a child is simply not through the process yet. Even though she may have started gaining on the potty habits at a certain age, it doesn't mean that she's mature enough to be completely trained. Progress is usually always followed by a setback or two, so I would encourage you to be patient and keep plugging. It can be simply distraction, it can be emotional, and it can be a sign of resentment/rebellion. She will get to the point of no return soon.
Here's funny story (okay, maybe not as funny right now to you, but maybe you'll get a chuckle):
I was in the grocery store and on the next aisle over was a man and his small son, who was in the process of being potty trained. I think he was probably 3 1/2 or close to 4 from his size and speech. Anyway, they were getting some Pull-ups and the dad was trying figure out the biggest size to buy for him. He was still having accidents and wasn't completely trained, but he was also growing out of the size they were using.
Dad says, "Son, you know we've got to get this thing licked soon. There just aren't any bigger sizes for these."
Little boy says, "Dad, I'm trying, but, well...it's just too hard."
Dad says, "Well, we're going to have to figure out something, cause our next choice is gonna be those 'Depends' down this row next!" | |
