Subject: Stalk Cannibalization heads up

Hope all is well. I know we have all heard the warnings about stalk cannibalization in the upper midwest in our careers. That said, alot of us up north have not had the pleasure of dealing with Southern Rust to the magnitude that we have this year. I walked into a field in SE Iowa ytd and I was absolutely shocked at the stalk quality. I thought I knew stalk cannibalization - I was wrong. It is literally a straw out there with an hanging on ear on it. If it were mine, I would be in full panic mode with combine and dryers running full tilt. So it's just a heads up that it could be way worse than you are expecting.

Good luck and be safe
