Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t recall any bailouts for pork producers during the massacre in the late 90s (maybe there was, but I was a kid) Nor do I recall any bailouts for cattle producers, either cow calf or feeders, aside from mfp, which was a pittance compared to row crops.




There was a govt "bailout" for hog farmers in the late 90's.    The kicker was, it was sized to bailout FFA and 4H projects so that they didn't lose money on their fair pigs.

IIRC, the payment was something like $50/head and the maximum payment per producer was $2500 (I'm nearly 100% confident that was the max payment).     So you only had to have 50 head to max out the payment.       It was a joke.
