You do realize the current situation is a government induced problem correct? And yes it will entice other countries to ramp up production but again I'm not for the trade war to start. But here we are with our own government medaling in our markets so if that is the path we are on the government should use our production as a negotiation weapon. Seems most on here feel China needs us more than we need them, well lets prove it and make them hungry or are you guys scared suddenly? If we are going down this rabbit hole why shouldn't everyone else join in on the pain? Lower acres should reduce the costs of other inputs making our suppliers feels some pain with us? Livestock guys having to pay more for feed? Why shouldn't they share in some of this great tariff plan? The consumer at the grocery store? Let them help pay for some of this.
If China doesn't come to the table by spring lets put the plan on steroids and bump it to 15% in 2026 with the threat of 25% in 2027. If you are going to pick a fight you better go in with a plan to win.
