Sure, open center is no problem.
- the proportional valve would need to be open center type
- there obviously wouldn't be a tractor load sensing connection
- you'd likely want to tap into the tractor's orbital oil supply since that would have priority over other hydraulic circuits
- sensing manual steering override would need to be done differently
(usually you'd sense load sense pressure
)
I don't know what you're trying to do exactly, but if your goal is to build a low dollar fully capable autosteer system then you need to be checking out AgOpenGPS!
We have the trimble EZ guide and 250 systems and were told for the last decade by multiple dealers and companies that an open center steering valve does not exist that we would have to convert the entire tractor
) to closed center.
Now hearing that open center valves exist and it is, probably, also possible to build your own if needed, its somewhat exciting to know we don't have to move the big EZ steer motors around all the time.
