We have the trimble EZ guide and 250 systems and were told for the last decade by multiple dealers and companies that an open center steering valve does not exist that we would have to convert the entire tractor(70s and 80s Versatiles) to closed center.

Now hearing that open center valves exist and it is, probably, also possible to build your own if needed, its somewhat exciting to know we don't have to move the big EZ steer motors around all the time.

Here's a couple valve options that AgOpenGPS guys use.

If you want to get your feet wet with AgOpenGPS before fitting any hydraulics: the AgOpenGPS systems can run a Trimble EZ steer motor too. You can just add a valve later. Here's one of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvQLvR8htmo&ab_channel=WildBuckwheat
All AgOpenGPS systems use a wheel angle sensor, and the EZ steer performance is much better than Trimble due to that wheel angle sensor. That and no subscription/unlock RTK, automatic U turns, etc. With your existing motor you'd be in for ~$1000 to have a nice system.
