| The world demand for soybeans remains the same. Yes Brazil is producing more every year, so if we continue on this way production will keep outpacing demand. Who can do it the cheapest and get it there the cheapest? The tariffs create transportation inefficiencies. The PNW is the natural export route for asian soybeans but now China is willing to pay more to have soybeans come from the eastern coast of south america all the way around the horn to get to them. That cannot continue forever. As a farmer I grow soybeans but I could be just as satisfied growing anything. The market dictates what we grow to a certain extent. If it tells us to stop growing them we will stop growing them. But we are long way away from that. Maybe a few more decades will get us there, maybe not. | |
