Problem is when they get stuck, they are REALLY stuck. I remember a dozer getting stuck as a kid, guy was a well experienced owner/operator, took one to many passes through the mud at the bottom of a hole he was digging to bury stuff from a fence row we had him remove. Trying to pull that dozer up and out of mud, took a couple of wreckers with tractors chain to front to help hold the wreckers from sliding back to the hole.
Excavators do get stuck,,,,
