Latimer Iowa | It sounds like the pup is defending you/yard/grandkid/ it’s pack from strangers. It does not sound like it’s doing it unprovoked, just when a stranger approaches. This can be trained out of them at that age. Shock collar is a start but also keeping the dog tied in situations there are strangers present to avoid confrontation. We have one of our 3 that I wouldn’t trust not to bite a stranger walking into the shop. With anyone she knows is the sweetest, gentlest dog there is. A bit of a watchdog doesn’t bother me at all but if we know people are stopping we avoid putting her in the situation for potential issues.
Putting the dog down is the easy button and it sounds like this dog deserves better than that. | |
