Subject: RE: Attic insulation redo.

Not an insulation expert but here’s my experiences. Back in ‘95 we added a bathroom addition to our 1904 farm house. Contractor put in vented soffit. First time the temps got down to 0 shower walls & floor was a sheet of ice. Called contractor, he didn’t believe me so came out & looked. That day they removed the vented soffit & put in insulation & regular soffit

This last year had a new bedroom & bath built on. SW corner of the house. We’re on open parried & majority of wind comes out of the SW. 6” walls with 3” closed cell then filled with blown cellulose, Was going to have felling done the same but insulation contractor recommended against using foam, said it would make the room too airtight, recommend wet cellulose, pint of water per bag. Bedroom is 16’x14’, last winter heated it with a 1600 watt oil filled heater. No ac other what circulates out of the rest of house. One of the hottest summer we’ve had in years. Central ac set @ 73*, bedroom stayed at 70 just using a ceiling fan on low
