Harvest speed is a major reason to have bins. However your example of.35 to store it is really not the whole story. Holding costs are a real thing.

All those take the shine off that .35 pretty quick.
You are correct though harvest pace is reason enough to have bins in my book.
Eh, not always the case. I paid for my new bin and handling equipment in cash. Not everyone is paying interest. Electricity is a minimal expense per bushel. You're already hauling out of the field anyway, so it's really just trucking 1x. Spoilage only occurs if you can't run a fan properly or dry corn to 15%. |
