Subject: Get a professional

West Union, Illinois

Among the things that look so simple and can be so dangerous are garage door torsion springs.  Quit acting like a farmer and call a pro.

We had a couple doors at the firehouse that were giving us fits.  Called a pro.  He told me to oil the springs.  We did.  Worked perfectly after that.  Lubricating the door springs is now an annual event.

Few years ago Mom had one break.  Simple.  Nothing to it.  Went to lumberyard they were purchased from and got a replacement spring.  I put it on.  About got hurt doing it.  Broke new spring.  Mom: "Don't they have someone that does this?" Yes, they did

We had a problem with a door at my house this Spring. Learned from my previous experience and called Furry Overhead Door Company.  Their guy came down, did things I didn't understand (like weighing the door to select the correct spring) and fixed it in a lot less time than I would have taken and no Band-Aids or 911 calls required.

Call a professional

Full disclosure: The owner of Furry Overhead Doors (Champaign, IL, (217) 722-5476 furrydoors.com) is a distant cousin.  My grandfather and his great-grandfather were brothers.  Close enough to be related, not close enough to get a discount.  ;)
