| Most of the time "here" we'll get corn dry. I haven't run a burner in I don't know how long. I know, yield loss, dry matter loss. But we're not the only ones and we're not huge. The end user is 8 miles or 12 miles or 4 miles or closer to the field than the bins, depending on where we are. Right now there is .43 cents of carry in the local corn from October to March. There's only 27 cents carry from November to March. A lot of times we'll load a load for the elevator first thing in the morning. Get it in early then carry on as normal the rest of the day. Depending on how lines are, Combines running, etc might take another load sometime during the day. For that amount of carry, I don't feel bad having to haul off some grain. Normally, I'm forward contracted for the Bushels I think I'll have to haul at harvest, but not the last couple years. That's on me. But, at those numbers, I'll gladly haul part to town and not feel cheated. Price might go up, it might go down. Who knows? |
