| The kits like you show that come with the proper sized handles are the best. I would guess that most of the injuries were caused using screwdrivers or ill fitting handles to wind the spring.
Insert the handles and make a sharpie mark, so that you can be certain that you have your handles inserted all the way each time.
I'm sure your springs are unequal in length because someone replaced a broken one in a hurry. It's best to replace both at the same time.
You want each spring to be the same length/ gauge. Or your going to have unequal tension. | |
